UAID stands for Unconventional Arterial Intersection Design whose aim is to improve the intersection performance by using innovative geometry designs. This particular clip of video in turn demonstrates the basic concept, state of practice and future challenges of this emerging technology. In this demonstration, we try to address the following topics:
1.Fundamental concepts of UAID
2.Categorization of UAID
3. Most commonly seen UAID designs
4.Existing UAID intersections under operation in Maryland
5.Introduction of new computer aided UAID system
The research is jointly conducted by Maryland SHA and Transportation Operation and Safety Lab of Maryland University
